Who Am I
Hi, I'm Sankar Nair — a Corporate & Commercial Lawyer at Velletta Pedersen Christie in Victoria, and an entrepreneur since I was 16.
Before law school, I founded a start-up offering niche products that has sold over 20,000 units to date — and I still operate it today. In my third year of law school, I conceptualized and developed a special effects product that ended up featured in 11 different publications.
Today, I bring more than 14 years of hands-on business experience to my legal practice — from business structuring and product manufacturing to supply chain, marketing, licensing, and wholesale distribution. That perspective shapes how I advise clients, draft contracts, and negotiate deals.
My job isn't to give you the legally correct answer in isolation — it's to give you advice you can actually use to grow your business.
Who I Help
I work with a broad mix of clients — entrepreneurs taking their first steps, growing businesses navigating change, and creators protecting their work. Some of my representative work includes:
- Business acquisitions and sales ranging from $30,000 to over $20M
- Strategic distribution agreements for e-commerce companies, suppliers, and manufacturers
- Start-up legal foundations — founders' agreements, incorporations, shareholders' agreements, service agreements, and employee stock option plans
- Licensing, distribution, publishing, and IP for artists, authors, musicians, adult entertainers, producers, publishers, and record labels
- Privacy Policies and Terms of Service for websites, platforms, and applications
- Commercial leases — drafting, reviewing, and negotiating
- General corporate maintenance, complex corporate structuring, and commercial risk management
Why People Work With Me
My clients work with me for a simple reason: I bring real-world business experience to legal practice.
More than 14 years of running businesses — everything from business structuring and product manufacturing to supply chain management, asset purchasing, marketing, licensing, and wholesale distribution — informs every contract I draft and every negotiation I lead. The law is the framework; making it serve your business goals is the work.
If you're an entrepreneur, founder, or business owner navigating a legal question — a deal, a contract, a corporate structure, an IP issue — I'd be glad to have a conversation. Whether or not we end up working together, I can usually help you see the next step clearly.
